Sarah Gristwood – Writing Workshop

Writing A Journal

£25 – limited spaces so please book early to secure a place

In recent years, many of us have come to understand ‘journaling’ as a useful tool in self-awareness, and even in self-help. But we are far from the first generation to do so. In this workshop, Sarah Gristwood looks back over 400 years of women’s diary writing, and asks how diarists before us have used the process, and what lessons we can take away.

Sarah’s new book Secret Voices: A Year of Women’s Diaries. features more than 100 diarists and covers over four centuries. Alison Weir called it “a book for all seasons – and all people…a modern classic”. Hear Sarah talk about the book at the festival here.
