Gillian Allnutt Workshops

Two workshops on Saturday 3rd and Saturday 10th June in Hexham Library

Un/Common Sense:

Poetry Workshops with Gillian Allnutt

Two workshops  which are related but different. Each is self-contained and you are welcome to come to either or both.

Saturday 3rd June – Making Sense of It

What does it mean when you read a poem and say ‘I can’t make head or tail of this but I really like it’? What can you do with that? What does it mean when you write such a poem yourself? And what can you make of it? In this workshop we’ll be writing and reading poems that seem to make no sense and yet in some way do.

Saturday 10th June – Choreography

In this second workshop we’ll look at how the movement and music of a word, a phrase, a line can help to connect and carry a meaning and emotion in a poem.  We’ll be reading two poems – differently choreographed, both expressive of grief – and working towards poems of your own.

£6 per workshop, held at Hexham Library, Queen’s Hall, Beaumont St, Hexham NE46 3LS
