Joan Ruddock – Going Nowhere

Sunday 7th May, 3:00pm - 4:00pm

Theatre, Queen’s Hall

To anyone who came of political age in the 1980’s Joan Ruddock is an icon. This is the story of her life growing up in the Welsh valleys and how she came to embody the radical voice of Britain’s biggest protest movement, The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Her subsequent political career looked to be fast-tracked until Blair’s decision to overlook her talents left her ‘going nowhere’. Hear how she fought back, and won.

Chaired by Richard Moss, BBC Political Editor for the North East and Cumbria.
